چکیده
Abstract Background CPAP is characterized by the application of a constant and continuous positive pressure into patient’s airway. By delivering during both inspiration expiration, increases functional residual capacity opens collapsed or under ventilated alveoli, thus decreasing right to left intrapulmonary shunt improving oxygenation in obese individuals. Main body abstract Obesity several alterations mechanics respiratory system that tend further exaggerate impairment gas exchange rendering these patients prone perioperative complications, such as hypoxemia, hypercapnia, atelectasis. Interestingly, has been advocated an efficacious modality for prevention treatment postoperative atelectasis considered be most common complication. In OSA, device works splint airway open prevent collapse upper cardinal event OSA leading improvement sleep, quality life reduction risks cardiovascular neurocognitive side effects associated with disease. Besides beneficial effect, there are other physiological benefits CPAP: greater end-expiratory lung volume consequent increase oxygen stores, increased tracheal traction improve patency decrease cardiac after load. Conclusion Due various on therapy crucial complications particularly related obesity cornerstone moderate severe obstructive sleep apnea.

Effect of Bubble and Ventilator-derived Continuous Positive Airway Pressure on the Management of Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Premature Neonates
Background: In this study, we aimed to compare ventilator-derived and bubble continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) in neonates with respiratory distress syndrome admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Vali-e-Asr Hospital, Birjand, Iran, in 2014. Methods: This cohort study was conducted among 68 patients assigned into two groups. The neonates in group A (32 infants) were treated with b...
متن کاملA Comparison between Nasal Intermittent Positive Pressure Ventilation and Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure Ventilation in the Treatment of Neonatal Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Background: Nasal intermittent positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) is a non-invasive ventilatory mode, which delivers mechanical ventilation via nasal tubes or prongs. The present study was conducted to compare the efficacy of NIPPV and nasal continuous positive airway pressure ventilation (NCPAP) in reducing the need for intubation in preterm infants with respiratory distress syndrome (RDS)....
متن کاملA Comparative Study of Treatment Response of Respiratory Distress Syndrome in Preterm Infants: Early Nasal Intermittent Positive Pressure Ventilation versus Early Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure
Background Infant respiratory distress syndrome (IRDS) is one of the main causes of serious complications and death in preterm infants. Both Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (NCPAP) and Nasal Intermittent Positive Pressure Ventilation (NIPPV) are known as the most common treatment strategies for IRDS. The present study intended to compare NCPAP and NIPPV in the treatment of preterm inf...
متن کاملThe Effect of Non-nutritive Sucking on Transcutaneous Oxygen Saturation in Neonates under the Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)
BackgroundSeveral beneficial effects of non-nutritive sucking in infants, including the physiological stability, relaxation, better transition from tube feeding to oral feeding have been reported. But its effect on oxygen saturation in neonates under the Nasal Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (NCPAPو (is not so clear. This study aimed to investigate the effects of non-nutritive sucking on tr...
متن کاملApplication of continuous positive airway pressure to trace static pressure-volume curves of the respiratory system.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate a new technique for pressure-volume curve tracing. DESIGN Prospective experimental study. SETTING Animal research laboratory. SUBJECTS Six anesthetized rats. INTERVENTIONS Two pressure-volume curves were obtained by means of the super-syringe method (gold standard) and the continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) method. For the CPAP method, the ventilator was sw...
